Symbolic Dimes & the Meaning of Number Ten

I got an email from a woman who constantly encountered dimes on her path as well as the number ten reoccuring in her life.  She asked me about the symbolism of dimes and/or the symbolic meaning of the number ten – to which I responded: 

Dear Ten Cent-sation: 

The meaning of number ten deals with returning to our center, coming full circle.  Ten holds a vibration of unity, as well as fresh starts.

If the number One symbolizes the beginning (& it does), then we can say that the number Ten represents the outcome, result, or achievement of that first step or beginning.

The most profound message number Ten hails is “whatever we sew,  we shall now reap.”  In other words, “what comes around goes around. ”

Ten also represents fulfillment, attainment, and completion.  These attributes are obtained by observing the Ten containing all the elementary numbers from 1 to 9.   As such, Ten is a vessel holding all the jumbled up potential found in the language of numbers.

Ten is also a bit slippery because reduced – it turns back to number One – hence, again – a full circle, coming to the beginning – finding unity (all is one, one is all).

That you are picking up a great deal of dimes is quite a good sign.  Specifically, dimes may be symbolic of shiny opportunities coming your way that you once thought were lost to you. 

Remember Tens are strong representation of recycling events (full circle) – a dime is a superior symbolic symbol of such phenomenon.  Consider how many times a dime (or any money for that matter) is recycled through our society. 

Symbolic dimes provide messages of lost opportunities regained.  Things we thought we should not or could not do are beginning to resurface.  Our energies are being recycled.  Our intellectual currency is on the brink of change. 

Shiny, bright and round…these dimes on your path are beacons of promise.  They hold the meaning of number Ten firmly in their vibration and that is:  “Events are coming full circle.  Cast off the old, and don the new.  Step into the begining that is for your greatest good.”

 when you find a dime, it is supposed to be a sign from the other side i.e. family members, friends, and any one else that wishes to reach out. the dimes usually appear when you are struggling with an issue or need reassurance in some way. i myself find dimes all the time in the weirdest places, and always when i least expect it. some interesting reading as far as this subject would be "the dime story." hope this helps you out in some way...

28th September, a day ago, was my cousin sister Neha's bday. My sister Neha was my younger cousin who passed away a couple of years ago in 2000. I have never forgotten her bday. I literally used to wait for the day to make a post on f/b or my other homepage. But this year was different. I've been so distracted lately.. sorry. Neha, I love you and Happy Birthday 2009!!!!!!

The movies starts with a few images of a person cutting lemons and squeezing lemons into a glass, Burke Ryan, (Aaron Eckhart) author of the A-Okay self-help book (about moving on from grievance of death of loved ones) recited his first chapter while doing so: Chapter one, if life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. Only he mixes half a glass of vodka with it.

**** I just turned on my TV after a week or so today and this movie 'Love Happens' was playing. It was a good movie. Made me cry..quite a bit actually. I loved the Home Depot scene.. particularly where his manager is grudgingly giving his Amex Platinum to be charged. hehe. I want to become a flourist after I retire! :) btw, in the movie Jennifer Aniston goes around scribbling words behind paintings and  sesquipedalianist is the word he writes for her at the end of the movie.

Abstract: The Himalayan Rivers have an enormous hydropower potential that is still not exploited fully for the benefit of the region. Bhutan and Nepal together have an economically feasible potential of 60,000 MW of hydroelectric power generation capacity but are too weak financially to bear alone the risks associated with the development of their hydro resources. India is the only potential market for the electricity supplied from these sources. The power purchase agreement framework for the 336 MW Chukha Hydel Project in Bhutan could serve as a model with regards to the transfer of risks, management of risks, and sourcing of finance in exchange for the sharing of the economic rents associated with such projects. "It is not individual or corporate spending that has driven us into inflation. It is governments who year after year have spent billions more than they have received and who in order to reverse this process must grossly cut their expenditures. But how do they do this? It is generally agreed that any massive cut in welware will resilt in politically unacceptable voilence in many cities.

Just as important, it is probably equally impossible for governments to enourage productivity when for two generations they have encouraged profligacy. People in government power talk about increasing productivity but they don't mean themselves or their own employees. The crazy thing is that while we have encouraged industry to produce more, for example it is great if the way can be found to increase one worker's output in a refrigeration factory to increase from 31 refrigerators per week to 32, no one even dares suggest increasing the number of students in each teacher's class from 31 to 32.

The gradual loss of productivity in government is well illustrated in my home of Ontario. The present "Conservative" Government came to power in 1943 when there were 2,300 civil servants in the province. Today, we are governed, not particularly better, by 80,000 civil servant. Periodically, the Government itself becomes alarmed at the increase in the number of its employees and puts a halt to hiring. But somehow the number of employees continues to grow as departments hire those people they think they need "by contract", instead of making them actual civil servants.

In 1978 the number of students enrolling in our schools fell drastically. As a result, there was a surplus of teachers. Rather than fire the extra teachers, the teachers' union and a group of popularity seeking school trustees urged that instead we take this "great opportunity to raise standards" by decreasing the size of classes!"

Born in Toronto, Ontario, Shulman received his M.D from the University of Toronto in 1948. THINKING LOYALTY published on Monday's (20th September) Globe and Mail Newspaper

Companies prize loyal customers. But they may have some mistaken notions about loyalty. Marketing guru Seth Godin, on his blog, notes that loyalty occurs when someone refuses a momentarily better option. So loyal customers don't believe you are unparalled. Loyal customers understand that there's almost always something better out there, but they're not so interested in looking.

"If your offering is always better, you don't have loyal customers, you have smart ones," he argues. "Don't brag about how loyal your customers are when you're the cheapest or you have clearly dominated some key element of what the market demands. That's not loyalty. That's something else."

He says that loyalty usually comes from inside, from the story we tell ourselves. We're loyal to sports teams, products, or companies because that makes us happy. Some customers like being loyal. You can help by reinforcing the good feeling they have by being loyal.

WHERE ARE YOU MY TOKIDOKI MONSTER?!?!?!?

For the love of our Almighty God..please~please help me get back my missing usb key!!!!!!!!!!!! So I went home on Sat afternoon and I only realized on Tuesday that it's been missing. Gosh! all the work that I had done in the past 2 weeks is on it! My USB key has become as important as my organizer! I haven't felt SEPARATION ANXIETY in such a long time.. except it's not something I can cry and get over... I will actually have to do the work alllllllll over :(

I am hoping it is lost though because if it is missing then there is no hope of me finding it anytime soon~~ This is the first time I am hating myself for being so organized. My apartment is so organized that there is no way it is hiding somewhere or under something!!!!!!!!!!! argggggggggggggghhh also the reason why I never looked was because I have a little bag inside my bag where I usually put it!!!!!!!!!

Canada's national pension fund has struck separate deals totalling $335.5 million for stakes in eight shopping centres across the country.

The Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board says it benefited from a rare opportunity in purchasing several malls. (Ramya Jegatheesan/CBC)

The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board will pay $113.5 million for the Hillside Centre in Victoria, owned by the Ontario Pension Board.

"Hillside Centre represents our first investment in Victoria and increases our presence in British Columbia," CPPIB vice-president Peter Ballon said.

In a separate transaction, the board will pay $222 million to Osmington Inc. to increase the CPP's stake in seven other malls across the country, whose total leasable commercial space adds up to 5.4 million square feet.

"These acquisitions expand our footprint in the Canadian retail sector, which is a strategic asset class within our real estate portfolio," Ballon said.

When the transaction closes, CPPIB will own 100 per cent of the Pine Centre mall in Prince George, B.C., the White Oaks malls in London, Ont., Eastgate Square in Stoney Creek, Ont., the Sudbury Centre in Sudbury, Ont., and the Intercity Shopping Centre in Thunder Bay, Ont.

It will also own 90 per cent of Les Galeries de la Capitale in Quebec City and Carrefour de L'Estrie in Sherbrooke, Que.

"Canadian retail malls of this quality seldom come to market, and this was an excellent oppotunity for us to invest in eight prime assets in key markets," Ballon said.

CPPIB's real estate portfolio was valued at $7.9 billion in late June, $3.6 billion of which comes from Canadian-based assets.

The CPPIB had total assets of $129.7 billion at the end of its last fiscal year, a 22.1 per cent improvement over the previous year.

That is the whole point isn't it CallmeDave.
The Federal Government (Con/Lib/Bloc/Ndp)should all be educating the public that the CCP/QPP are just supplemental to what each individual should be doing for themselves.
We all know that even if it is there when we need it, the monthly paycheque would not be enough to survive on. You will have to have another source of cashflow.

I'm pretty sure the investment advisors and economists at the CPP are dealing with heaps of data that is much more reliable than your casual observation regarding "what the big box stores have been doing". Analyzing the data would have allowed them to track the sales and profitability trends over "the last ten years" and beyond, and to forecast the expected returns on these investments. Sorry to be rude, but your observations aren't worth all that much in life. We see so little of what actually goes on, and drawing conclusions based on what little we do see is not an investment strategy.

I'm inclined to think that these folks know what they're doing! Twenty two percent improvement over the past year is hard to beat."
It's so hard to beat that even they didn't do it - the fund was $129.7B at June 30, 2010 and was $116.6B at June 30, 2009, an 11% increase.

READ AYN RAND: World's Biggest Writing

The idea was conceived and "written" by one person, Nick Newcomen, during the spring and summer of 2010. All expenses were paid entirely by him.

The first step involved identifying on a map the route he would need to drive in order to spell out "Read Ayn Rand." Then he drove the route. He used a GPS logger (Qstarz BT-Q1000X) to record his "writing." He turned on the device when he wanted to write and turned off the device between letters. He then input the recorded GPS data into Google Earth resulting in the image you see above.

For documentation, he video recorded himself at dozens of different landmarks along the route.

<The reporting of this incident in the Globe and Mail about two weeks ago was the initial reminder that I wanted to read THE FOUNTAINHEAD but as you know I did watch the movie eventually  and have posted an entry about that. As you can see AYN RAND and her philosophical take on OBJECTIVISM is my latest obsession and I am egoistic enough to claim that it defines my philosophical take on life only now I feel more normal with actual data to support it>

WHO IS AYN RAND?

Ayn Rand was a Russian-American 20th century novelist and philosopher. She is best known for her novels Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead as well as for developing a philosophical system she called Objectivism.
Objectivism is a philosopy created by the Russian-American philosopher and novelist Ayn Rand (1905–1982). Objectivism holds that reality exists independent of consciousness, that man has direct contact with reality through sense perception, that one can attain objective knowledge from perception through the process of concept formation and inductive and deductive logic, that the proper moral purpose of one's life is the pursuit of one's own happiness or rational self-interest, that the only social system consistent with this morality is full respect for individual rights, embodied in pure laissez faire capitalism, and that the role of art in human life is to transform man's widest metaphysical ideas, by selective reproduction of reality, into a physical form—a work of art—that he can comprehend and to which he can respond emotionally.

Rand originally expressed her philosophical ideas in her novels The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, and other works. She further elaborated on them in her magazines The Objectivist Newsletter, The Objectivist, and The Ayn Rand Letter, and in non-fiction books such as Introduction to Objectivist Epistemology and The Virtue of Selfishness.

The name "Objectivism" derives from the principle that human knowledge and values are objective: they are not created by the thoughts one has, but are determined by the nature of reality, to be discovered by man's mind.

Philosophy: Ayn Rand characterized Objectivism as "a philosophy for living on earth", grounded in reality, and aimed at defining man's nature and the nature of the world in which he lives.

In Page 74 of his book Peter Buffett mentions the quote "Not all who wander are lost" ...actually a better version of the quote, I remember, is probably "Not all who wander are aimless". And so below is the story he shares in conjunction to this quote (Pg 74-77):

"A friend recently told me about a former schoolmate of his, who changed majors practically every semester. He started college intending to become a mechanical engineer. But soon he grew bored with the concrete, hands-on aspect of engineering; he had a hankering for something ethereal and abstract.

So he changed his major to physics. This captivated him for a while, but he found that what he really loved about the subject was the beautiful and orderly patterns it described.

So he switched his major to math, whichwas about nothing but patterns, completely divorced from physical objects. Math held his interests for a semester or two, until he began in feel that his world was becoming too abstract. His mind now yearned for things he could see with his eyes and touch with his hands.

He changed majors again, and this time he changed colleges, too. By now, his parents were no doubt pulling their hair out, and even his friends were wondering if he was simply one of those people who was very bright and incurably flaky. He enrolled at the Rhode Island School of Design as a fine arts major, with a concentration on drawing and painting.

The leap was not as off-the-wall as it might at first seem. The fellow was obsessed with beautiful patterns. But the splendid patterns of mathematics were invisible, and he longed to bring them into the light of day somehow. So why not try to render something analogous to them in a beautifully wrought line or composition or mix of colors?

But- surprise!- the painting option didn't quite work out for this fellow. First of all, he had some doubts as to whether he was talented enough, whether he could translate his intellectual ideas about painting into actual artworks. And aside from that, he found the painter's life too solitary, too removed from the common experiences and conduct of business that connect most people.

So he changed majors yet again, this time to architecture. Architecture was collaborative and social; it was both an art and a business. Design called for a knowledge of physics and of mathematical relationships. It allowed him to use his drawing skills and to exercise his love of patterns. He finally found his calling, right?

Well, almost. There were a couple of things about architecture that still frustrated him. One was that most designs for buildings never got built; they lived and died as blueprints. What about the steel and glass and stone they envisioned to be built from. This fellow found himself getting more and more interested in materials and their different characteristics. In other words, he'd come full circle and was thinking like a mechanical engineer!

And these hypothetical buildings- how would they fit in the pattern of a city, among its grids and contours? How would their esthetics and theirscale and the nature and cost of their materials affect the people who lived and worked in them? What was the larger pattern these buildings would inhabit?

Eureka! He finally had it- the discipline that matched his broadest interests and employed his fullest skills set. He was meant to be an urban planner. He changed his major one last time, worked through a master's degree, and went on to a distinguished and satisfying career.

So-- was this fellow "lost" during the years of his academic wonderings? Or was he following a path that was not yet visible but was nonetheless taking him where we was meant to go?

THE MOVIE: The Fountainhead is a 1949 American drama film based on the best-seller book of the same name by Ayn Rand. The movie stars Gary Cooper as Howard Roark, Patricia Neal as Dominique Francon, Raymond Massey as Gail Wynand, Robert Douglas as Ellsworth Toohey and Kent Smith as Peter Keating. The film was directed by King Vidor, with the screenplay written by Rand.

The Fountainhead's protagonist, Howard Roark, is an individualistic young architect who chooses to struggle in obscurity rather than compromise his artistic and personal vision. The book follows his battle to practice what the public sees as modern architecture, which he believes to be superior, despite an establishment centered on tradition-worship. How others in the novel relate to Roark demonstrates Rand's various archetypes of human character, all of which are variants between Roark, the author's ideal man of independent-mindedness and integrity, and what she described as the "second-handers." The complex relationships between Roark and the various kinds of individuals who assist or hinder his progress, or both, allow the novel to be at once a romantic drama and a philosophical work. By Rand's own admission, Roark is the embodiment of the human spirit and his struggle represents the triumph of individualism over collectivism.

"When I was in high school it was suggested by one of my teachers that I read this book since I was planning to be an architect. It had always been at the back of my mind but because the book is so difficult to find and in my rush to finish my bachelors degree I had never had that opportunity. On the 13th of September (last Monday) I had my day off and was lucky enough to catch a screening of THE FOUNTAINHEAD on TCM. As I watched the film I felt a dejaVu moment. That film represents all my reasons for not wanting to pursue architecture/ be an architect. It concretized every belief that I use- on myself- everyday to remind myself that giving up a future as an architect, even after a bachelor's degree, was the best decision I ever made for my sanity, my well being and in this quest of mine to find the true meaning of MY LIFE. 

Had I watched the movie back then would it have changed my mind about being an architect? No

Is the misery I put myself through worth the realization I came out with after this ordeal worth it? Yes. Every single moment of misery. I went to Chapters on the 11th of Sept and I must say I haven't paid full price for a book in quite a while because when I saw my $91 bill I felt a little faint- seriously!

[Value Village @ $4.99 is my regular haunt or those random book stores around the corner is the kind of place for someone like me who can't pass on an attractive book. I just have to OWN it. Pictures of my books coming soon.. I have to d/l to my comp.]

So, the two books I bought were ...

Debt Free Forever by Gail Vaz-Oxalde.. she is awesome! I read the entire book in one day! Highly recommended and it was 20% off!!!! sure beats the 700 over holds are the Toronto Public Library.

..and 'Life Is What You Make It' by Peter Buffett. I absolutely fell in love with the cover!! Still reading it and savouring every moment. ...and yessss.. he is the son of Warren Buffett but read the book and you shall see how family values, your sense of self, ambition and seach for the meaning of life mean more than the monertary value of the fortune you are born into. I hope to put up some sections of the book in the future! It is surely going to be a book that I will be discussing with others. Just because everyone always talks about how life is unfair and they are so underpaid.

In addition I also purchased two last copies of 2011 Organizer

One for my sister too and totally worth the money. You should recall this 'Keep Calm and Carry On' from my second blog entry (that one was about the book but the book wasnt ummm.... too much like the original WWII- completely rewritten I'd say but I do remember one of the quotes in the chapter and that went like this 'Worry Gives Small Things a Big Shadow').  You should know I am addicted to organizers. I already have about 4 for the coming years..hehe. My organizer is my life- or so my coworkers telll me! 

PS: Value Village is an awesome place to shop for books. I've managed to salvage a couple of copies autographed by the authors themselves. ^__^

Studies show that the people who move most fluidly through the world are the ones who have a grasp on a number of different topics. It's one of these things that on the surface looks like good manners- "so-and-so can talk to anybody about anything"- but it's about finding a way into a conversation, no matter who you're having it with. Sometimes you need your CEO to be paying attention to you, but sometimes you need the guy who parks your car to do what you need him to do, as quickly as possible. So you need to have that broad range of styles and pieces of information. I find it also helps with problem-solving. Just having an understanding of a number of industries can be very helpful in a problem-solving situation.

When I listen to most of his music I can't even put in words what is on my mind... all I know is that I feel happy......... only to reach a point when i randomly start crying then laughing again because it feels so silly to cry. Like most people have commented they can picture green grass, mild wind,and the sun..

I only wish I could live the rest of my life in this state- in this state of being so captivated - so lost - so carefree - so boundless- so natural - so empowered- so optimistic- so giddy - so warm -  so content- so happy- so satisfied- so nervous - and so not alone. Is this what love is meant to feel like?

No worries: Underemployment happens to everybody, career counselors say. And when joblessness rages near 10 percent, it happens to nearly everybody at once.

"It's no secret that this is a very difficult time," Generation Y Career Blogger Lindsey Pollack says. "So even if you're waiting tables or temping, don't throw off your day job. Everything is an opportunity to show what you're capable of."

For new graduates keeping your ego at least one notch above despair is what passing out flyers and sweeping up french fries is all about, she says. If it helps, pan one eye toward the future. "Know that this is not forever," encourages career advisor Dan King.

In fact, workplace advisor Jane Boucher notes, your misery will pas every single workday, when the shift whistle screams."Remember, this is just a job," the "How to Love he Job you Hate" author says. "You have a life outside of your job. Look at the beauty. Go for walks on the beach. Find othe things in life that have meaning and purpose."
